Getting a motorcycle repair manual is not like getting a part. Motorcycle and ATV repair manuals are produced and distributed, in bulk, by publishing houses as they are ordered.

Please Note: Many factory repair manuals like Honda refer to a common service manual. The common service manual covers common procedures for many different models. (Sometimes specific information is only available in the model specific service manual) Since it covers procedures on many different models, the common service manual is a valuable asset to have if you are an enthusiast that enjoys doing things yourself. The common service manuals and model specific repair manuals from the factory are the same manuals used by service technicians at your local dealership.

Repair manuals serve more purposes than simply repairing you motorcycle or ATV. There is much valuable information to be found that can be used during normal maintenance as well. Some of the more common uses for repair manuals include:
Service intervals - When do I need to...? Know when certain things on your vehicle should be adjusted, inspected or replaced.
Service Specifications - Over torqued fasteners can warp parts made of steel. Got a loose bolt or nut in a critical place? A repair manual gives you the information needed to keep things safely torqued to the proper specifications.
Maintenance Procedures - Timing chain then the valves? Valves before carb synch? Are you sure you know the proper sequence when it comes to performing maintenance on your motorcycle or ATV? Many times one thing has to be properly adjusted in order to properly adjust another.
Fluids and Lubes - Dot 4 or 5? Dielectric grease or waterproof? Are you sure your using the right fluids and lubes for your motorcycle or ATV? There are differences when it comes to oil, grease, brake fluid, anti-freeze, etc.
Replacement Parts - Sintered or un-sintered brake pads? Resistor or non-resistor plugs? Having a manual can help prevent getting parts that do not work as well or may possibly damage other parts.
Special Tools - Wonder what the part number for this tool is? Some things require special tools. Part numbers for these special tools often can only be found in the repair manual.
